5 Quick Blogging Tips

Why blog? As outlined in our free eBook, having an active blog is an integral part of online self-promotion and it’s a great way to boost your search engine presence. If you are just starting your business or website, blogging can feel a bit intimidating. Here are five quick tips to help you get over the fear and start blogging:
  1. Be consistent Stick to a blogging schedule. Do you have enough content to blog daily or would it be easier to blog once a week?
  2. Promote your posts on social media To get blog traffic, make sure to link to your blog posts on all relevant social media platforms you’re part of.
  3. Engage with your audience Don’t forget to respond to comments or follow-up with anyone who’s shared your posts! Engaging with readers builds a community around your blog.
  4. Be concise The attention span of the average web surfer and blog reader is pretty short, so make sure you get to the point (make lists like this one!), but don’t forget to proofread!
  5. Don’t over-edit; just be yourself You don’t have to be a great writer to blog. As long as you find your authentic voice, your readership and audience will grow.
Whatever you choose to blog about – sharing tips, highlighting your services, and/or discussing recent issues (the amount of topics are endless!) – writing is an extension of your brand.   If you’d like to learn more about digital strategy, pick up the free Intro to Online Marketing Strategy for Small to Medium Sized Businesses eBook.
