Case Study: VOKRA Website Redesign

VOKRA homepage

VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association) is a local non-profit that organizes fostering and adoption of orphaned cats. They also have a trap/neuter/return program to help care for feral cats in the Metro Vancouver area.

Due to their range of services, VOKRA’s website has complex needs. From an adoption database to their standalone blog, many components needed to be integrated into one website that is easy to navigate and also easy for their volunteers to update.

VOKRA adoption
We worked very closely with the VOKRA team to iron out the site map and functionalities. The result is a website that focuses heavily on photos of the beautiful cats that are available for adoption.

Each adoption profile page clearly shows the most important information about the cat in the sidebar (name, age, location). Icons and buttons were created to indicate the different needs of each individual cat (such as ‘must adopt with a VOKRA buddy’ or ‘no dogs’ in the household).

Other unique functionalities include saving cat profiles to your ‘favourites’ in order to access later, and being able to choose between kitten and adult cat profiles.

VOKRA’s new website is still under development, but feel free to visit their existing site and get involved with this great organization!
