What’s in a name? Why we’re Chestnut St. Pixel Foundry.

We have no immediate plans to also offer coal at low cash prices. While unwieldy (just call us “Pixel Foundry”), our name has its origins in the history of graphic design. Inspired by a love of all things Victorian, we researched the first advertising and design studios of the Industrial Revolution.

Volney Palmer launched his advertising agency as early as the 1840s, with an office on Chestnut St. in the Society Hill area of downtown Philadelphia. (Fun fact: the office building is now a boutique hotel.)

And the Pixel Foundry part? Well, we like to think we carefully handcraft our design, detail-oriented down to the last pixel.
